Treatment

Having a therapist by your side during emerging adulthood can provide guidance, support, and tools to navigate challenges like identity formation, managing instability, Making Important Life Decisions, and helping young adults build a strong foundation for their future.

What we Treat

  • Eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating are complex mental health conditions that often involve an unhealthy focus on food, weight, and body image. Therapy can help address the underlying emotional and psychological factors driving these behaviors, fostering a healthier relationship with food and self.

  • Depression is a mood disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest in daily activities. Through therapy, we work to uncover the root causes of depression, develop coping mechanisms, and rebuild emotional resilience.

  • Anxiety disorders can cause overwhelming worry, fear, or panic that interferes with daily life. Therapy offers a safe space to understand the triggers of anxiety and develop tools for managing stress and calming the mind.

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • Navigating questions of sexuality and identity can be challenging and emotionally complex. Therapy provides a supportive, nonjudgmental environment to explore sexual orientation, gender identity, and relationships, helping individuals feel more secure in their identity.

  • Chronic illness can take an emotional toll, leading to stress, anxiety, and depression. Therapy offers coping strategies and emotional support to help manage the psychological impacts of living with illness and improve overall well-being.

  • Grief is a natural response to loss but can be overwhelming and challenging to navigate. Therapy helps individuals process their emotions, make sense of their loss, and find a path forward toward healing and acceptance.

  • Behavior and mood disorders, such as ADHD or bipolar disorder, can disrupt daily functioning and relationships. Therapy helps manage symptoms by exploring underlying emotional patterns, improving communication, and developing practical coping strategies.

  • Relationships can be both rewarding and challenging. Therapy provides a supportive environment for exploring relationship difficulties, improving communication, and developing strategies for healthier, more fulfilling connections.

  • Low self-esteem and chronic stress can significantly affect mental and physical health. Therapy offers tools to improve self-worth, manage stress more effectively, and cultivate greater confidence and balance in life.

  • Struggles with weight, whether through overeating or unhealthy dieting, often stem from more profound emotional challenges. Therapy addresses the psychological factors behind weight issues, fostering a healthier relationship with food and self-image.

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can leave lasting emotional scars. Therapy focuses on helping individuals process their trauma, regain a sense of safety, and rebuild their lives with renewed strength and resilience.

What to Expect?

Therapy with me, Dr. Jennifer VanBeck, is centered around understanding and resolving the emotional pains that shadow your daily life. My approach combines deep exploration of how your present issues have developed with effective coping strategies that are easy to integrate and genuinely alleviate distress.

My practice specializes in assisting young men and women aged 18 to early thirties, navigating the complexities of early adulthood—ranging from self-esteem struggles and perfectionism to anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. These issues often stem from past experiences that we'll bravely face together.

From our first meeting, you'll find a warm and inviting space. I strive to make therapy relatable and approachable, removing any airs and ensuring you feel understood and valued. It’s common for clients to express surprise at how much they share in the first session, a testament to the safe and empathetic environment I foster.
